SSHFS + AUTOFS - automatic, on-demand mounting of filesystems via sshfs

I recently moved my media drive and attached it to my Myth Box instead of to my desktop, because videos played over the wireless were skipping (and we were really into the first season of Sons of Anarchy :) ).

Help save Bement Camp and Conference Center!

I did most of my growing up at Bement Camp and Conference Center in Charlton, MA. I acquired most of my values there, and it undoubtedly helped me to become the person I am today.

Redfin Solutions recently developed a site to serve as a face for the movement, over at http://savebement.org. If you are interested in helping out the cause, please visit and register for an account.

Walmart, you owe me a battery!

UPDATE: After calling Wal-Mart corporate to complain, they trickled it down to an assistant manager there, who after a few weeks of back and forth, is sending me a money order for the full amount.

What a debacle yesterday! We're up in Maine for this wedding, and I went to a store to buy some pants last night. When I came out, my car just positively wouldn't start. We tried jumping it (ironically, this family was from the Lenoir, NC area! Small world, no?), but it still wouldn't start (though it was better).

Wikipedia, I like your style.

Why don't people "just get" copyleft? To me it's obvious, at least immediately. I admit I've not traveled too far down the rabbit hole, but it seems to make sense--specifically, in this case right here.

Appearing in this New York Times article, a celebrity photographer says...

“To me the problem is the Wikipedia rule of public use,” Mr. Avenaim said. “If they truly wanted to elevate the image on the site, they should allow photographers to maintain the copyright.”

Bathroom Renovation

Just call me Norm Abram (just kidding, don't - I don't even know who that is). Rachel and I updated our downstairs bathroom this weekend, and while it wasn't quite bad enough to be a feature on "Renovation Realities," it wasn't without its snags. Who'da thunk figuring out the myriad different ways hinges could go on would be so difficult? Good thing they're cheap.

And now, for your viewing pleasure...

Kid Charlemagne Tracks

My good buddy Ed Hadley of Quoins fame, and former drummer for the best band Providence College has ever seen, inquired about our band's demo tracks from college.

For anyone and all to enjoy, they are posted below. Unfortunately we didn't record Genny, about a promiscuous little can of beer... something I always regret.

I picked a cloud and called it mine.

That's a line from a song (by The Rockett Band) I was singing to myself when I made a really good decision back in my undergrad and was feeling really good about it.

I'm feeling really good about stuff now. Things are shaping up! I have finally completed my Master's Degree at Appalachian, and I've got a bunch of contracts in the works for Redfin! Life is good, and today I'm chillin' in Vermont since we're headed out today to look at Wedding Venues! So exciting.

Redfin Solutions has a blog!

After much anticipation (yeah, right) - Redfin Solutions has its own blog up! It took some time, since it's always easier to work on what you can bill rather than what doesn't necessarily bring in money directly, but we've got it!

Patrick has taken to using it more frequently than I (ok, he puts me to shame, I admit it), but I am particularly happy to announce my recent post!

I've got a module contributed today (still in early development stages) that integrates with the dotgo service (http://dotgo.com) which opens the path for any Drupal site to be interacted with via SMS!

Getting Things Done, Part II: Processing Your Inbox

As promised, I told you I'd share with you a little bit about my initial process and collection phase. I've been with the GTD system for a few weeks now, and I'm beginning to flesh out some more things as I go. Lifehacker recently asked its users How Have You Modified the GTD System to Fit Your Needs? and I have popped my head in to look and throw in some comments.

But I digest... (<= name that allusion)

How the Internet Blows My Mind, Part Gajillion

Thanks to Jonathan Coulton, I heard about this Israeli guy who's been cobbling together bits and pieces of YouTube videos (which comprises his entire library of material, just YouTube) to make new songs/videos out of it. His name is Kutiman, and I can only imagine the amount of hours that went into creating these "mashups."
